A patrol vehicle of the Western Nigeria Security Network, known as Amotekun, was destroyed by fire on Thursday morning at Mokola in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
The incident happened around 9:30 a.m. under the Mokola flyover. The van, which was carrying Amotekun operatives for an operation, suddenly caught fire.
Eyewitnesses said that passersby and motorists tried hard to put out the fire, but the vehicle was completely burnt before the Oyo State Fire Service arrived.
Luckily, no lives were lost in the incident, though the patrol van was damaged beyond repair.
As at the time of this report, the actual cause of the fire had not yet been discovered.
