The Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal (CCPT) in Abuja on Monday stopped MultiChoice Nigeria Limited from raising subscription fees for DStv and Gotv.
MultiChoice had issued notice to raise the subscription fees for DStv and Gotv services in Nigeria.
ASHENEWS recalls that on March 22, 2022, MultiChoice increased its tariffs for DStv and GOtv, while attributing the reason to rising costs of business operations in the country.

The new tariffs for the DStv packages were announced as follows: Premium (N21,000), Compact + (N14,250), Compact (N9,000), Confam (N5,300), Yanga (N2,950), Padi (N2,150), Business (N2,669), Xtraview + PVR access fee (N2,900).
While the new tariff for GOtv packages were announced as follows: Gotv Max for N4,150, GOtv Jolli for N2,800, GOtv Jinja for N1,900, GOtv Lite for N900.
Also pricked by the rising cost of businesses in Nigeria, MultiChoice recently announced that it would increase the price for its products and services.
However, the CCPT issued a ruling on Monday preventing MultiChoice from implementing its planned price hikes and increases for products and services set to take effect on May 1st.
The interim order was granted by a tribunal consisting of three members, with Saratu Shafii as the presiding officer.
This decision came after an ex-parte motion was presented by Ejiro Awaritoma, who is the legal representative of Festus Onifade, the applicant.

DSTV have been enjoying a free hand ever since. They refuse to charge per view, no Internet provision and other services. They provide very poor entertainment options. As for the judgement its irrelevant, cause personally I have decided to stop paying for the rubbish they are offering.
