The Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) says it has invested N8.1 billion on metering network reinforcement, and improving work environment across its franchise within the last seven years of its existence.
KEDCO’S franchise includes: Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States.
Mr Ibrahim Shawai, Head of Corporate Communications of the company, stated this in a statement on Thursday in Kano.
According to Shawai, the power distribution sub-sector, and power sector generally cannot really witness real improvement except there is massive investment.
“It is in recognition of this that the company embarked on such investments.
“The major concern of our investment is to build capacity through deployment of modern facilities as well as expertise to respond to the demands of our customers.
“Also, to give them value for their money which remains one of our core mandates,’’ he said.
Shawai also quoted Mr. Jamil Gwamna, the Managing Director of the company, as saying that “electricity distribution networks are capital intensive and timely investments are crucial for future reliability of our services.
“As a customer-centric organisation, we are working to improve our services through massive investment in networks and the welfare of our staff so that we will be better prepared for the future,” he said.
