The North-East Development Commission (NEDC), has constructed a mega secondary school, to enhance delivery of quality education in Bauchi state.
Alhaji Uba Ahmadu, Minister of State for Regional Development, said this on Thursday during the handing-over of the school to the Bauchi state government.
He said the school project was executed by the commission in collaboration with the ministry in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, aimed at education transformation in the country.
The ministry, he said, also embarked on an education programme aimed at identifying schools in deplorable conditions for rehabilitation by the authorities.
“This particular facility is a brand new one, not refurbished but was built from scratch, and we are confident that after commissioning the project and handed-over to the government, it will be managed very well,” he said.
Mohammed Alkali, Managing Director of the commission, said the school was designed with four blocks of 12 classrooms, four units of two bedroom staff quarters, an administration block, commercial center, fence and gate.
He said the commission was executing three additional mega school projects in Bauchi while similar school projects were ongoing across the region.
“So, we are building 18 mega schools of similar structure in these states,” he said.
Gov. Bala Mohammed, lauded the gesture, and pledged to ensure effective utilisation of the school.
Represented by his deputy, Auwal Jatau, said the school would be a source of educational and holistic development to the people.
Meanwhile, the NEDC has inaugurated an Emergency Medicine Complex constructed at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi.
The complex was designed with 20-bed capacity triage hall, 4-bed capacity resuscitation rooms, 20-bed capacity male and female ward, 6-bed capacity male and female isolation rooms, offices, laboratory and nursing station.
