The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has approved more than N2.5 billion for the Federal University of Transportation, Daura (FUTD), in Katsina State.
Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Umar Adam-Katsayal, confirmed this during an interview with journalists on Saturday in Daura.
He explained that N1.3 billion of the 2025 intervention fund will go into new buildings and programme upgrades. Another N240 million has been set aside for training and developing academic staff.
According to him, N150 million will be used for ICT development, N185 million for the library, and N170 million for staff to attend local and international conferences.
He added that research activities will get N100 million, while N180 million will be used for project maintenance. Entrepreneurship centres will receive N85.5 million.
The vice chancellor further said that career centres and units will each get N100 million, while N25 million has been earmarked for journal publication and another N25 million for manuscript development.
Adam-Katsayal also revealed that the university has set up a cooperative society to help staff own houses within five to ten years.
He explained that land around the university will be made available for investors to build houses. This, he said, would enable staff at different levels to secure homes and avoid housing challenges after retirement.
