Corps Member Adepoju Enitan Pelumi (OS/25A/2397), has organised a Career Awareness Outreach for public secondary school students in Osogbo, as part of his Personal Community Development Service (CDS), aimed at guiding students toward informed academic and professional choices.

The maiden edition of the outreach, held on Wednesday, was designed to bridge career knowledge gaps and expose students to diverse professional opportunities.

Leading a team of fellow Corps Members from various academic backgrounds, Enitan visited St. James Grammar School, and L.A. Adenle Grammar School, both in Olorunda LGA.

During the programme, Corps Members offered career guidance on subject combinations, professional pathways, and real-life workplace expectations.

Speaking on media and communication, Opeloyeru Ibrahim (Mass Communication, OS/25A/2448) highlighted the role of the media in shaping public opinion and national development, urging students to embrace responsible communication. Oyebanji-Bada Godsent (Geophysics, OS/25A/0638) discussed the relevance of geoscience to environmental management, architecture, forestry, and sustainable development.

Addressing opportunities in agriculture, Olubukola Benita (Animal Science, OS/25A/0568) enlightened students on careers in animal husbandry, livestock production, research, and agribusiness. In the field of engineering, Dawulung Walter (OS/25A/3481) and Boluwade Folarin (OS/25A/2575), both of Electrical/Electronics Engineering, explained the basics of electricity generation, transmission, and distribution, emphasising Mathematics and Physics as essential foundations.

Health and biological sciences were also featured, as Adeyemi Adeshubomi (Veterinary Medicine, OS/25C/0816) and Afolabi Dorcas (Veterinary Medicine, OS/25C/0822) spoke on veterinary practice, zoonotic diseases, and career prospects in animal health and public safety. Oladehinde Temitope Esther (History and Diplomatic Studies, OS/25B/1428) shed light on diplomacy and its role in fostering peaceful international relations.

In the legal and social sciences segment, Oyetayo Adebayo (Law, OS/25A/2013) advised aspiring lawyers to cultivate strong reading habits and select appropriate subject combinations. Ernest Ehomayi (Economics Education, OS/25B/2425) spoke on the relevance of economics to governance and entrepreneurship, while Adebola Comfort Afonja (Philosophy, OS/25B/4058) addressed misconceptions about philosophy, highlighting its value in ethics, logic, and critical thinking.

At St. James Grammar School, the team was received by the Vice Principal, Mrs. M. O. Faramade, and the School Counsellor, Mr. Olayemi Babatunde. At L.A. Adenle Grammar School, the Vice Principal, Mr. Ola Ayodele, and other members of the school management described the initiative as timely and impactful, commending the Corps Members for their commitment to youth development.

Other Corps Members who supported the outreach included Fadayomi Victoria, Isiaq Ayobami, Godfrey Joseph, Adegeye Bolanle, Adebayo Oyetayo, and Precious Ogundipe, who provided mentorship, facilitated interactive sessions, and assisted with the distribution of books and writing materials.
