Benue governor, Samuel Ortom has asked the presidency to stop alleged intimidation of patriotic Nigerians who, he said, were raising genuine concerns over the worsening security situation in the country.
Bishop Mathew Kukah had, while addressing US Congress, said president Buhari was not only helpless in tackling insecurity in the country but also had nepotistic tendencies.
In its response, the presidency had reacted to the Bishop Kukah’s address where it said the cleric’s statements against Buhari administration were disappointing.
However, Ortom in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase said the presidency should stop intimidating patriotic Nigerians who are raising genuine concerns over the worsening security.
“We wonder why the Presidency chose to politicize the views of Bishop Kukah when all the issues he highlighted in his address are facts about the country.”
While urging Buhari to acknowledge that his government was not handling the issue of security like it should, Ortom also advised him to always stand by the truth.
The governor further appealed to Buhari to apprehend and prosecute armed Fulani herdsmen that were allegedly responsible for killing many Nigerians in the Northeast.
