The Centre for Innovation and Pragmatic Development Initiative (CIPDI), has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to intensify efforts on workable solution to insecurity in Nigeria.
Its president, Mr Ifeanyi Nwanoro made the call while commemorating with Nigerians as they mark the 62nd independence anniversary on Friday.
According to CIPDI in a statement by its spokesperson, Abdallah el-Kurebe, there is urgent need for Nigeria “to seek workable solutions to the ever increasing insecurity menace across the country.
“Besides insecurity, Nigeria is bedeviled with high rate of unemployment, poor public institutions and infrastructure, poor representations at all levels of government as well as the beleaguered strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU),” Nwanoro states.
He further lamented the report of the 2020 Global Terrorism Index, which identified Nigeria as the third most affected country by terrorism.
While praying for the country as it approaches another threshold of political history, the CIPDI president called “for reflections on the sacrifices of the leaders of this country across all levels.”
He also called on leaders to place excellence, capacity and qualification above favouritism and mediocrity.
Nwanoro further called on the masses to elect capable, experienced and committed leaders that will address the plight of our people come 2023.
