The Nigerien National Guard otherwise known as Garde Nationale du Niger, have killed five Boko Haram terrorist and rescued eight abducted victims in Diffa.
ASHENEWS gathered that the Boko Haram terrorists on November 8, stormed the village in Maldjori, a village between Garin Wanzam and Kitchandji and kidnapped eight of the victims, including seven women and one man.
An intelligence source told a counter insurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad, Zagazola Makama that the Defence and Security Forces, more specifically Niger National Guard elements on alert, embarked on a pursuit of the fleeing terrorists.
The source said that contact was made as the troops engaged the terrorists in a heavy gun battle which led to the killing of five terrorists while others escaped with bullets wounds and abandoning their victims.
“Unfortunately, one of the hostages died during a cross fire while three members of the National Guard were injured,” the source said.
