NAF precision strike decimates terrorist camp in Borno’s Timbuktu Triangle

Nigerian Air Force (NAF) jets executed a precision airstrike on January 10, 2026, obliterating a terrorists’ camp in the notorious Timbuktu Triangle of Borno State.

The operation targeted the Abbaga Jiri enclave, a persistent insurgent stronghold, following credible intelligence on fighter concentrations and supply stockpiles.

Ground assessments post-strike confirmed extensive destruction of structures and neutralization of threats converging on the site.

The NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame detailed the mission’s success in a statement, highlighting seamless integration of air surveillance, interdiction, and follow-up ground forces.

“The precision air interdiction was executed based on credible intelligence, leading to the destruction of terrorists’ structures and the neutralization of terrorists who converged at the location,” Ejodame affirmed.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar reiterated commitment to air superiority, ensuring no safe haven for insurgents amid ongoing threats to civilians and troops.

This strike builds on recent NAF offensives, including multi-state operations in late 2025 that degraded terrorist logistics across the northeast. Borno remains the epicenter of Boko Haram and ISWAP activities, with the Timbuktu Triangle—spanning border areas—frequently hosting cross-border militants.

While exact casualty figures await full battle damage assessment, the action underscores intensified counter-insurgency momentum into 2026.
