ASHENEWS reports that the Force Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Maj. Gen. AK Ibrahim on Thursday, presented token compensation to the next-of-kin of the troops of Sector 3 MNJTF and Civilian Joint Task Force during operations SHARAN FAGE and LAKE SANITY, who lost their lives in action.
This online platform further reports that the ceremony was held at the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI in Maiduguri.
Maj. Gen. Ibrahim commended the Sector and troops for their relentless efforts and gallantry in the fight against the BHTs in the LCB region.
The Commander of the Sector 3 MNJTF, Maj. Gen. AE Abubakar, in his opening remarks, thanked the FC MNJTF for making the presentation of token compensation to beneficiaries a reality.
The FC MNJTF paid glowing tributes to troops who have paid supreme sacrifices in the quest for peace within and around the LCB region during the mentioned operations.
He stated that the compensation was not aimed to pay for the lives lost but rather a show of gratitude and appreciation.
This was followed by the presentation of cheques to the beneficiaries by the TC, Deputy TC, GOC 7 Division, and Commander Sector 3.
In his remarks, the TC joined the FC MNJTF and Command Sector 3 in paying tributes to the deceased troops and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) members while encouraging their families to be consoled as the troops died in honour while contributing to the restoration of peace in the region.
The FC and his entourage alongside Commander Sector 3 also embarked on an operational visit to 145 Battalion Headquarters Damasak where he was received by the Commander 5 Brigade, Brig Gen OG Olorunyomi.
The FC received a detailed brief on the operational activities of the Battalion from the Commanding Officer 145 Bn, Lt Col US Abdullahi, adding that the Brigade Commander stated that the battalion has improved its relations both with the host population and the NGOs present in the area.
A training demonstration was carried out by the troops of the 145 Battalion for the FC. In his remarks, the FC MNJTF commended the leadership and men of the Battalion for the achievements recorded so far.
He added that terrorist capacity has been significantly degraded while promising more support to the Battalion.
He urged them to remain vigilant and combat-ready at all times. The FC and his entourage have since returned to N’Djamena.
