The Zamfara chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has felicitated with the parents and government over the Tuesday release by bandits of the kidnapped students of Government Science Secondary School Jangebe.
This is contained in a statement jointly signed by the chairman and Secretary, Bello Boko and Abubakar Ahmed made available to ASHENEWS on Tuesday.
“It is with a relieved heart that the Zamfara state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Zamfara state felicitates with Nigerians, especially the Zamfara government and parents of the abducted 279 students of GGSS Jangebe, inTalata-Mafara local government area of the state on Tuesday.
“This, no doubt followed the unwavering effort and peace and reconciliation initiative of governor Bello Mohammed and the security agents.
“We pray that as promised by President Muhammadu Buhari, this incident will not show its ugly face in any part of Nigeria again.
“The union implores the state and federal government to continue to fortify all public places especially schools in order to increase the confidence of Nigerians,” the statement reads.
The Union called on parents, community leaders and members of the public to “continue to pray for peace and an end to all forms of insurgency while remaining vigilant against all suspicious movements.”
