Former Sokoto state governor, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa on Thursday, met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila in Abuja.
He visited the Speaker to discuss security issues and demand compensation for the victims of genocide and kidnappings in Northern Nigeria.
Bafarawa also sought urgent solution to the security challenges facing the North, with the participation of all stakeholders in the country.
“It is time to take action to provide relief for the affected communities and to bring about a speedy recovery,” he said.
The former governor presented documents containing names and assets of others who had lost their lives as a result of various attacks and massacres in Northern Nigeria to the Speaker.
Responding, Gbajabiamila lauded Bafarawa for his hard work and dedication in compiling hard-line information on those who have faced hardships or lost loved ones.
“I salute you, believe on your vision of achieving positive things on our people. Bafarawa you are a pride of new Nigeria, and a good politician of high repute who practices his teaching to followers,” he said.
He said he would look into the needs of the Bafarawa Foundation and those involved in advocacy to take appropriate action.
The Speaker also thanked Bafarawa for the visit and assured the former governor and his team of continued cooperation to move the country forward.
