The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the Sokoto South Senatorial District seat.

The returning officer, Professor Abubakar Abdullahi Bagudo, said Tambuwal polled 100,860 votes to defeat the serving Senator Danbaba Dambuwa, who polled 95,884 votes.
“Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of the PDP, having satisfied the requirement of the law is hereby declared the winner of the election, and returned elected,” Prof. Abubakar Abdullahi Bagudo stated
