Fidelity Bank Plc has donated food items to 3,000 vulnerable households and less privileged persons in Zamfara.
Presenting the food items to the beneficiaries in Gusau on Monday, the the bank’s Regional Head, Northwest 2, Muhammad Ahijo, said the essence was to extend a helping hand to the downtrodden.
He explained that the gesture was under the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiative.
“This gesture is meant to reach out to vulnerable persons, so that it will reduce the scourge of hunger in the society.

“This is part of the Fidelity Bank Food Initiative aimed at alleviating the hardship being experienced by many people in the face of current economic challenges that engulfed the entire country.
“At Fidelity Bank, we recognise the importance of supporting and empowering communities to grow and prosper. We believe that by investing in the well-being of the communities where we operate, we contribute to creation of a better society for all,” he said.
Responding, Gov. Dauda Lawal, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mukhtar Lugga commended the bank for providing support to vulnerable households in the state.
“The Fidelity Bank Initiative is in line with my administration’s policy to extend support to the needy.
“We are grateful for this kind gesture, especially that it comes in the holy month of Ramadan”, the governor explained.
On his part, the Accountant-General of the State, Ali-Akilu Muhammad, appreciated the bank for its generosity to the people of the state.
Muhammad urged other banks operating in the state to emulate the kind gesture by providing succor to the less privileged families in the state.
A total of 3,000 beneficiaries comprising; retired civil servants, aged women, women-headed households, orphans, disabled persons among other vulnerable groups received the gesture.
