The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, sacked 20 members of the House of Assembly in Cross River, for defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressive Congress, APC. The PDP had in a suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/975/2021, challenged the lawmakers’ defection from the party under which platform they were elected to office. The Debt Management Office, DMO, has said that Lagos state government has the highest domestic debt figure of N658.95 billion borrowed as at the end December, 2021. The DMO disclosed that the total domestic debt profile for the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, has risen from N4.45 trillion to N4.19 trillion in September last year. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has granted a former governor of Anambra state, Willie Obiano bail. France has frozen €22 billion ($24 billion) worth of assets belonging to the Russian Central Bank, French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said on Sunday. “We have frozen the assets of the Central Bank of Russia in the amount of €22 billion. In addition, we have frozen assets in private individuals’ accounts in French financial institutions in the amount of €150 million,” Le Maire told the RTL radio. Flood from the ongoing construction of the Zungeru hydro electric power station has submerged seven communities in Shiroro local government area of Niger state. Russian troops are close to finally defeating Ukraine’s “Donbass” nationalist battalion, Russian Defence Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov has stated. He elaborated that up to 60 of the battalion’s fighters were killed, two tanks, while three armoured transports and six pieces of artillery and mortars were destroyed during Russian troops’ push towards Nikolskoye settlement.
