A report by Heifer International, a global development charity, has revealed that only 23 percent of African youth engaged in farming, are using any form of agricultural technologies. The report, which was released in Nairobi, Kenya on Thursday, said the youth in the continent had not tapped into technologies and innovations that could attract them to agribusiness. The federal government of Nigeria on Thursday has said that it would step up efforts on vaccination amid the rising cases of COVID-19 infections across the country. It also said it was not considering a lockdown in spite of the rising cases. Torrential rain has destroyed no fewer than 1,567 farmlands on Tuesday in Jama’are local government area of Bauchi state. The rain which lasted for over 20 hours submerged farmlands and destroyed crops in seven villages in the area. The council’s chairman, Samaila Jarma confirmed the incident in Jama’are on Thursday.
