The Niger State Police Command says it has successfully destroyed improvised explosive devices (IEDs) recovered during counter-insurgency operations between 2021 and 2023, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shawulu Danmamman, has revealed. The destruction, led by SP Mohammed Mamun, took place on August 22, 2024, near Zuma Rock, Suleja. The recovered IEDs include pipe-borne explosives, military-grade missiles, and hand grenades found in Shiroro and Minna. Police in Lagos have confirmed the killing of Demola Akinloye, son of the Ojomu of Ajiran Land, Oba Tijani Akinloye, by gunmen in the Lekki area of the state. The tragic incident occurred on Sunday around 12:30 p.m. at Chevron Drive, Lekki, Lagos, when Akinloye was attacked by four gunmen. The gunmen, who remain unidentified, reportedly shot and stabbed Akinloye to death while he was driving his Toyota Corolla.
