Former Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has cautioned the Abba Yusuf-led State Government against using his name for political attacks and propaganda following allegations of financial misappropriation.
Ganduje, in a statement by his aide, Muhammad Garba on Monday, dismissed the allegations of N6.5 billion diversion, land grabbing, and other misconduct as “false, misleading, and politically motivated.”
According to him, the recent attempts to link the former governor to supposed overspending through the Protocol Directorate and other alleged scandals, were deliberate distortions aimed at tarnishing Ganduje’s reputation.
“Governor Ganduje completed his tenure with integrity, diligence, and a steadfast commitment to the people of Kano State. Throughout his administration, he prioritized governance, development, and the welfare of citizens, ensuring that all state resources were managed responsibly, transparently, and within established legal frameworks,” the statement read.
The statement further explained that all financial activities carried out by Ganduje’s protocol directorate were within state-approved budgets and in line with the law.
On allegations of land grabbing, Ganduje said his administration maintained policies and systems to safeguard public assets, stressing that claims of asset misappropriation were politically charged and inaccurate.
“Governor Ganduje’s legacy is defined by transparency, accountability, and public service. He faithfully served the people of Kano State, leaving behind programs and structures that continue to benefit citizens,” it added.
He therefore urged the Kano State Government, political actors, and the media to refrain from dragging Ganduje’s name into what he described as “baseless and politically motivated narratives,” noting that proper legal channels exist for addressing genuine concerns.
Ganduje, therefore, called on the Kano State Government to “stop using his name for political attacks or personal agendas.”
