ASHENEWS reports that the Niger state governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago says that the state government would soon introduce a university of agriculture and climate change in Mokwa, Mokwa local government area of Niger state.
The governor stated this on Wednesday while inaugurating principal officers for the Engr. Abdulkadir Kure University of Education, Minna at the Government House in Minna.
He said that the state government was poised to return the state to its place as a hub for education.
He noted that the state government would focus on promoting the fields of science and technology to meet gaps in the state’s education system.
He said that the government will also commit to completing the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida Teaching Hospital.
He added that the state government will commence offering scholarships for public school students who make five credits and above in their final examinations.
This online platform reports that the pro-chancellor of the university, Prof. Kuta Yahaya had earlier presented the academic brief for the 14 programs accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Yahaya said that the NUC has approved a 3,000 admission quota for the university after due accreditation.
