ASHENEWS reports that the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Niger State Council has pledged to support the newly sworn-in Governor of the state, Mohammed Umaru Bago.
The council, in a statement issued by its secretary, Usman Muhammad Chiji on behalf of the union’s Chairman, Abu Nmodu congratulated Bago for his victory at the polls and subsequent inauguration as the governor of the state.
The council urged the Governor to maintain its relationship with the media as observed during the period leading to the elections.
“The State Chairman of NUJ who recalled the excellent media engagement with the new Governor during the electioneering campaigns hoped that the long-standing relationship would be sustained in the years ahead for effective dissemination of his policies and programs.
“He described the new Governor as media friendly politician, a renowned go-getter, and a link between aspiration and fulfillment following his trajectory of yeoman’s service since he ventured into politics.
“He is optimistic that, with the needed support right team, mindset, and most importantly prayers, the new Governor will record the desired achievements for the wellbeing of the People.
“Comrade Abu Nmodu assured the new Governor of the support and cooperation of members of the Union, but emphasized the need for more vibrant media engagement to ensure a robust relationship with the Union and communicate properly with the people, “the statement said.
