ASHENEWS reports that the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the recently conducted presidential elections in Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has kicked against the show of support by the United States to Nigeria’s president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Atiku, who had rejected the results of the election and is presently in court stated this in a tweet he posted on his official Twitter handle on Wednesday.
Atiku while reacting to a phone call made by the United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken to Tinubu said Blinken’s action contradicted the position of the United States as to the conduct of the 2023 general elections.
“I am in disbelief that @SecBlinken called Tinubu, a contradiction to the publicly stated position of the US on Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election. This is inconceivable considering that America, as the bastion of democracy, is well briefed on the sham election of February 25. To give legitimacy to the widely acknowledged fraudulent election in Nigeria can be demoralizing to citizens who have hedged their bet on democracy and the sanctity of the ballot.
