As Nigeria’s security situation continues to deteriorate with citizens dying from bandits attack daily, the chairperson of Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF and Ekiti state governor, Kayode Fayemi has stressed that the country requires tough leaders to curb insecurity.
The governor stated this when he led a delegation of the Forum to condole with the people and government of Sokoto.
Recall that bandits, in the penultimate week, set a 32-seater bus aflame and burned to death 23 people on board along Shinkari-Isa road.
Within the same week last Friday, in the same axis of the state, they abducted the Chief Imam of Gatawa village along with 10 other people and the following day, Saturday, the bandits blocked Gatawa-Sabon Birni road.
Fayemi said the Forum was in Sokoto to commiserate with the people and government of the state.
“We are here on behalf of all governors of the 36 states to commiserate with the people and government of Sokoto. We will not be tired of showing solidarity with our colleagues.
“We will continue to unite to ensure that criminals are brought to book. Our people in Sokoto need consolation at this time of trial and our country requires tough leaders to fight insecurity.
“We must support president Muhammadu Buhari in the fight against this scourge,” Fayemi said.
Responding, Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal expressed gratitude to the leadership of the governors Forum, adding that Fayemi is “a good leader.
“Our confidence in you has been justified. Wherever the occasion demands, you have always been there, irrespective of party affiliation.
“We must rise as leaders to save this country. All hands must be on deck to support our only Commander-in-Chief, president Muhammadu Buhari in this fight.
“We need to take on these people with all the strength we have. They don’t have ideology. They are enemies of humanity. They don’t respect political parties or religion,” Tambuwal said.
Other governors on the Forum’s entourage are governors of Kebbi state, Atiku Faruk and Jigawa, Muhammad Badaru.
