The South West zone of the Biotechnology Society of Nigeria, SW-BSN, in collaboration with the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training, IAR & T) and the National Centre for Genetic Resources and Biotechnology, NACGRAB, will hold its second Annual International Conference between 19th and 21st May, 2021.

A pre-conference workshop with a theme: Hands-on-Training in Modern Biotechnology, will feature “Extraction and Electrophoresis of DNA and Protein”, “Polymerase Chain Reaction” and “Concept of Nucleic Acid Sequencing”, which will hold between 17th and 19th May.
According to the southwest zonal chairperson of SW-BSN, Prof. B. Boboye, who spoke with ASHENEWS in telephone conversation, the pre-conference workshop and the major event will hold in Ibadan, the Executive Director of IAR & T, Prof. Veronica Obatolu as keynote speaker.

“While the workshop will take place at the National Centre for Genetic Resources and Biotechnology, NACGRAB, Ibadan between 17th and 19th May, 2021, the international conference will hold at Institute of Agricultural Research and Training, IAR & T), also in Ibadan.
“And, while the workshop theme is ‘Hands-on-Training in Modern Biotechnology’, that of the main conference is: “Bio-Research: Biotechnology and Its Relationship with Other Technologies for National Food Safety and Security, Improved Agricultural, Health, Environmental and Industrial Sectors”, Prof. Boboye told ASHENEWS.
She added that the sub-themes and codes of the conference are: Plant, Soil and Animal Biotechnology for Improved Agriculture – PSAT; Biotechnology and other Technologies for Food Provision – BOTF; Microorganisms and Biotechnology – MB; Biotechnology in Healthcare Delivery – MPB; Biotechnology for Safe Biotic Environment – EB; Industrial Development and Growth: The Impact of Biotechnology – IB and Genetically Modified Organisms: Biosafety, Bioethics, Patent Law and Advocacy – BBPA.

Though the conference called for submission of full papers and the abstracts, fixed to be submitted on or before 17th April 2021 through the following email: bsn.swfirstconf2019@gmail.com, late submission and workshop registration are allowed.
INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPANTS
Foreign participants can register online by submitting their abstracts and making payment of $100 by April or $150 for late submission in first week of May. International students will pay $50.
Also, the requirements for registration include name, title, institution, research area, phone number, workshop category and email address to be sent to bsn.swfirstconf2019@gmail.com and copied to boboyeb2019@gmail.com.
Guidelines for abstract submission
Abstract should be typed in Microsoft Word Times New Romans in 12 font size and good English. It should contain paper title, surname(s) followed by author’s initials, affiliations, full address(es), email address of the corresponding author should be identified by placing asterisk behind the surname, presentation preference (poster or oral) and sub-theme with code. The abstract should contain aim/objective(s), methods, results and conclusion. Abstract text should not be more than 250 words with 4-6 keywords.
