Over 1,000 secondary school students and residents in Sokoto State have benefitted from a free dental consultation organized by Edibo Peter Princess, a female corps member in Sokoto state.
Edibo who is serving at the Specialist Hospital had the community health outreach whuch provided free dental screening, treatment, and basic dental care, and helped improve the aesthetic condition of patients in Sokoto South local government area.

Other services offered include oral health awareness, tooth extraction, and replacement of missing tooth with a question and answer session to educate beneficiaries on what is required of them to improve their oral health.
Edibo, who is a graduate of dental technology from the Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences, cautioned participants against excessive intake of sugary or acidic foods and drinks adding that dental checkups and cleanings shouldn’t be a once-in-a-while thing, but a professional care that should be sought every six months.

The Corp Member noted that the outreach has helped to not only reach out to many residents but also equipped the students with the adequate knowledge needed for them to reduce the incidence of preventable oral diseases.
She sought government support and also enjoined others to take their oral health seriously pointing that, “Oral health is an important part of general health, yet many school children and community members lack access to basic dental care and oral health examination.”
