The Forum of Education Secretaries in Oyo State’s 33 local government areas has endorsed Dr. Nureni Adeniran, Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), for governor in the 2027 election.
In a statement issued Friday in Ibadan by its Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Morenike Adeniran, the forum said Adeniran has a clear understanding of governance dynamics needed to lead the state.
“The SUBEB chairman is a grounded administrator with unmatched competency and consistency. His administrative experience positions him strongly to lead Oyo State effectively,” the forum stated.
The forum said its decision reflects a commitment to continuing good governance in the state. It noted that under Adeniran’s leadership, SUBEB has improved infrastructure, school rehabilitation, transparent teacher recruitment, and learning outcomes.
It added that his policies and reforms have significantly enhanced basic education delivery across Oyo State.
According to the group, the state needs a leader with a deep understanding of governance, particularly in education.
“Adeniran has shown love for the state through fair dealings with forum members from all zones. His interactions with education stakeholders are marked by humility, accessibility, and a commitment to problem-solving.
“He is a visionary leader who consistently demonstrates sincerity and unwavering dedication to the growth of basic education. This endorsement is about competency, not politics.
“We have seen firsthand how his decisions positively impact administrators and learners alike. We believe he is prepared for the task of governance,” the forum stated.
The endorsement signals growing grassroots support for Adeniran’s emerging governorship bid.
