JUTH honors staff for excellence in healthcare delivery

The Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) has rewarded dedicated and committed staff members for their contributions to quality healthcare delivery.

The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of JUTH, Dr Pokop Buptwada, stated this on Friday at the hospital’s 2025 end-of-year get-together dinner and awards night, saying outstanding performance deserved recognition to motivate others.

Buptwada emphasized the importance of acknowledging the unwavering dedication of staff, particularly in the face of daily challenges associated with a resource-limited work environment.

He noted that no workplace was without challenges and that despite existing constraints, JUTH staff had continued to demonstrate exceptional commitment, professionalism and compassion in patient care and the discharge of their duties.

“It is important that we recognize the hard work of our staff.

“We operate in a resource-limited setting, yet you consistently give your best. Your commitment to patients is evident every day,” he said.

The CMD commended the staff for maintaining high standards of service delivery, which he said had contributed to patient recovery and sustained the hospital’s reputation as a centre of excellence.

Buptwada reaffirmed the management’s commitment to improving staff welfare, strengthening systems and creating a more enabling environment for healthcare delivery in the coming year.

He explained that the merit awards were strictly performance-based, while the long service awards were presented to staff members who had served for 32 years and above.

According to him, a merit committee chaired by Prof. Aboy Madaki was constituted to oversee the selection process.

The CMD urged staff members not to rest on their oars but to continue discharging their duties effectively and efficiently.

A total of 18 staff members received awards in the merit category, while 23 others were honored in the long service category.

One of the merit award recipients, Mrs Rhoda Bot, told reporters that the recognition had motivated her to continue giving her best in the discharge of her duties, commending JUTH for appreciating staff contributions.
