Dahiru Mangal has funded medical treatment worth more than N257 million for approximately 21,000 vulnerable patients in Katsina State between 2016 and the present, significantly easing healthcare burdens for disadvantaged residents.

Hassan Kabir, a board of trustees member of the Mangal Foundation, disclosed the achievement on Monday during the screening of patients suffering from various eye conditions across the state.

Kabir stated that during this period, the foundation funded treatment for roughly 3,000 urology patients, committing over N140 million to ensure proper medical care and relieve financial challenges faced by families.

In addition, more than 17,000 patients with various eye-related conditions received medical attention, with total expenditure surpassing N30 million, covering consultations, treatments, medications, and associated care.

He added that the foundation also supported over 1,000 patients suffering from hernia and hydrocele, investing no less than N87 million to provide comprehensive treatment and post-operative care.

Kabir explained that patients with minor ailments were examined, treated, given free medication, and discharged, while those requiring surgery had their operations fully funded—including preoperative tests, medications, hospital stays, and post-operative care.

“The foundation employs some of the country’s best medical teams and procures high-quality drugs, equipment, and surgical supplies to ensure top-notch care for all beneficiaries,” Kabir said.

Established in 2016, the foundation is committed to assisting vulnerable groups through healthcare, education, and economic empowerment, targeting underserved communities. Kabir noted that thousands of surgical procedures have been sponsored not only in Katsina State but also in neighboring states and Niger Republic.

Ophthalmic nurse Ibrahim Lawal-Rabo of Katsina Eye Centre hailed the initiative, stating that philanthropic interventions like this complement government efforts, bridging gaps in healthcare delivery for underserved communities.

Beneficiaries lauded the foundation’s support and urged government agencies, private organizations, and philanthropists to emulate Mangal’s humanitarian efforts, promoting community welfare and equitable access to essential healthcare services.
