As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to gather momentum, conversations across Ondo North Senatorial District are increasingly tilting towards a call for renewed and purposeful representation at the National Assembly.

Among the names resonating most with constituents is that of Engr. Michael Adebayo Adeyanju, a respected entrepreneur and party loyalist widely regarded as a bridge between the people and government.

Community voices across Akoko and other parts of Ondo North describe Adeyanju as a “dutiful and compassionate leader” whose record of philanthropy and community development predates his political aspirations.

Supporters say his business acumen and collaborative spirit make him a natural ally in the business of good governance favourable to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, whose administration continues to enjoy wide public approval across the state.

“Aiyedatiwa deserves a Senator who will complement his developmental strides with strong federal legislative support,” a resident in Akoko South said. “Engr. Adeyanju fits that bill perfectly — he is experienced, credible, and close to the grassroots.”

Political observers note that the calls for a new face in Ondo North reflect growing frustration with what many describe as “recycled and ineffective representation” at the National Assembly.

This is as critics argue that some lawmakers have failed to live up to their oath of office, leaving their constituents disillusioned and demanding change.

Supporters of Adeyanju, however, believe that he represents a break from the past. “He has demonstrated leadership with integrity and empathy,” said Abanikanda Olumoro, a spokesperson of the Concerned Nigerians in the Diaspora (UK), a group advocating for competent leadership in the 2027 elections.

OLUMORO added that, “Adeyanju will not only provide conscientious legislative representation but also deliver tangible benefits to his people.”

In a statement, the group congratulated Governor Aiyedatiwa and the people of Ondo State for what they described as “a new wave of hope” symbolised by Adeyanju’s emergence. “At a time when integrity and moral strength seem scarce in politics, God has blessed Ondo North with a man of character and capacity,” the group’s leader, Abanikanda Olumoro, said.

The diaspora group, known for its advocacy on behalf of marginalized communities across Nigeria, pledged its full support for Adeyanju’s aspiration, describing it as “a homecoming of purpose and service.”

“As we look toward the 2027 leadership recruitment season, we stand firm in our belief that men like Michael Adebayo Adeyanju represent the future of effective representation,” Olumoro added.

“By God’s grace, Ondo North will soon celebrate a new era of accountable and people-centered leadership,” he said.
