The management of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, has rejected claims by the institution’s branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), describing them as misrepresentations.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Deputy Registrar and Head of Information, Media, and Public Relations, Abdullahi Abdullahi, in Kano on Saturday.
Abdullahi said the management considered ASUU’s allegations “spurious and unfounded,” aimed at misleading the public about the university’s progress and the Kano State Government’s contributions to education.
He highlighted several developmental projects and reforms implemented under Vice-Chancellor Prof. Musa Yakasai, including the renovation of lecture theatres, installation of digital teaching aids, and upgraded public address systems.
“The Vice-Chancellor has also taken steps to improve staff welfare by forwarding outstanding salary increments to the state government and commending the government for its continuous support to the education sector,” Abdullahi said.
He added that ASUU’s claims were politically motivated and urged the public to disregard them. “The administration inherited unaudited financial accounts from 2020 to 2022 but has since engaged auditors to update the university’s records. Outstanding staff salary increments of 25 and 35 per cent have been forwarded to the state government for consideration,” he explained.
Other reforms highlighted by the management include connecting the university library to fibre optic internet, equipping the Central Research Laboratory with modern facilities, and providing solar-powered electricity to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
“The management reaffirms its commitment to staff and student welfare and to sustaining developmental progress in the university,” Abdullahi concluded.
