The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has shifted the final date for the assessment of underage candidates who sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The decision follows concerns that 23 of the 71 universities chosen by the affected candidates failed to submit their Post-UTME screening scores as of the September 15 deadline.
According to JAMB, the development coincided with the release of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results by the National Examinations Council (NECO) on September 17.
A total of 135 candidates are affected, with the highest numbers recorded from the following universities: University of Lagos (39 candidates), Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja (18), and Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (15).

In a statement signed by its Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB urged the defaulting institutions to submit their candidates’ screening scores without delay.
The Board further reminded universities of the deadlines agreed upon at the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions, chaired by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa. Public universities are expected to upload their recommended candidates on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) by September 30, 2025, while private universities must do so by October 31, 2025.
JAMB emphasized that the final deadlines of October 30, 2025, for public universities and November 31, 2025, for private universities remain sacrosanct.
