ASHENEWS reports that the Niger State Government has signed an agreement with Jade Partners, an international agricultural company, to launch a 5,000-hectare sesame farming project.
The agreement, finalized in collaboration with Niger Foods Security Systems and Logistics Ltd, was signed at the Government House in Minna on Wednesday.
The partnership aims to empower local farmers with advanced farming techniques and inputs, guarantee off-take for their harvests, and create significant job opportunities.
By increasing sesame production, the project seeks to transform Niger State into a hub for high-quality sesame cultivation, boosting its agricultural profile nationally and internationally.
On his part, the Niger state governor, Mohammed Bago described the agreement as a pivotal step in the state’s efforts to drive agricultural development and economic empowerment.
“This partnership reflects our commitment to improving agriculture, empowering farmers, and creating new opportunities for our people,” he stated.
Similarly, the Executive Chairman of Niger Foods, Sammy Adigun, hailed the initiative as a “game-changer” for farmers in Niger State.
“This project positions Niger State as a leader in sustainable sesame production. It will not only enhance rural development but also strengthen Nigeria’s standing as a leading sesame exporter,” Adigun explained.
