ASHENEWS reports that as cholera outbreaks rage across the country, Sokoto state has not recorded any suspected cases.
The Permanent Secretary of the Sokoto State Ministry of Health, Abubakar Ahmad disclosed this in a statement by the public relations officer, Nura Maikwanci made available to this platform on Monday.
According to him, the Ministry has already taken all necessary measures for prompt response in case of any eventuality.
Ahmad enjoined the people of the state to ensure personal and environmental hygiene, especially during this rainy season.

He also stressed the need for people to ensure the consumption of potable water, which he said, would help in no small measure, in preventing people from the disease.
The Permanent Secretary further called on the people to promptly report any suspected case of the outbreak to the ministry or nearest hospital for quick response.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has expressed concern over the growing threat to water safety in the country, which has triggered outbreaks of water-borne diseases, including cholera.

“We must take responsibility to ensure the safety of our water. Proper waste disposal and elimination of open defecation are crucial in this direction.
“There is also the need for public education and awareness about the importance of hygiene and proper sanitation practices amid rising concerns about the spread of diseases such as cholera and typhoid, which thrive in unsanitary conditions,” he said.
