While the dust over the political crisis in Rivers state is yet to settled, another major crisis is already snowballing in another state that was governed by one of the members of the G-5 governors led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. Abuja-based

The emerging crisis, Forefront News gathered, is rearing its ugly head in Benue state where some powerful forces from the state, but who serve in the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are hell-bent on pursuing and prosecuting the impeachment of the Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia, otherwise there would be no peace in the state.

As part of the plans to get at Governor Alia, two of his key appointees are presently being trailed and monitored with the sole purpose of getting them arrested and detained to allow for the actualisation of the carefully-hatched plans by the traducers of the Alia-led administration, to go carry out their hatched plans.

Specifically, the two appointees of Governor Alia being targeted for arrest are the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Paul Biam and the Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, believed to be Alia’s point-men that must be taken out and away from the governor in order to achieve a smooth actualisation of the plot to get the Governor out of office at all cost.

The duo of Biam and Kula considered as the ‘Alpha wall and shields’ of Governor Alia were recently marked and pencilled for likely frame-up charges on issues bordering on financial sleaze. This was as it was gathered that the Abuja based top politicians are of the strong view that once they succeed in ensuring that the Chief of Staff and the Chief Press Secretary are moved out, Governor Alia will become vulnerable and open to attacks.

The duo, according to sources close to the Abuja-based politicians may easily bow when squeezed and dragged before the anti-graft commission that are already being pressurised to arrest and inject fears into them as well as the administration.

Forefront News further gathered that part of the plot is to cast aspersions and a serious dent on the Administration of Governor Alia that preaches and practices transparency and accountability in governance.

The Abuja politicians are also of the believe that once the two key aides to the Governor are severely intimidated, harassed and distracted, it would be easy to carry out the impeachment plot more successfully thus, recently authored another petition against the Chief of Staff and the Chief Press Secretary to Governor of Benue State.

Further checks indicated that already, several petitions have been written against the Governor and his two aides to the anti-graft agencies alleging certain infractions without specifics or supporting documents thereby putting the Anti-graft agency under pressure.

The Abuja team, it was further gathered is desirous of distracting Governor Alia from concentrating on governance and effective administration of the State.

As if that was not enough, Forefront gathered that some bank managers where the state Government accounts are domiciled and those of the two appointees have been contacted and induced to give details of the state financial status which they want to attach to another petition owing to the fact that the earlier petitions were considered too weak to act upon by the anti-graft agencies.

It was also gathered that some senior government officials in Benue state have in the past few days been receiving calls from strange quarters concerning the finances of the state thereby giving credence and confirmation to the alleged impeachment plot against Governor Alia.

Forefront News findings indicated that Governor Alia has over time been engaged in crisis with his erstwhile godfather, Senator George Akume, who is the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The crisis has created serious factions in the ruling APC in Benue State thereby leading to the Party to have two state chairmen with one loyal to the Governor and the other to Akume.
