The main opposition party in the last general elections in Kebbi State, the Peoples Democratic Party, has filed a suit at the Election Tribunal sitting in Birnin Kebbi to challenge the Gubernatorial polls.
Shortly after filing the 722-page petition, the Party’s legal Adviser Barrister Nura Bello told newsmen that the petitioners in the case were PDP and General Aminu Bande the Party’s Gubernatorial Candidate.
“The petition is challenging the eligibility of the Governor-elect, Nasir Idris, and his Deputy Umar Abubakar; Substantial noncompliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act and the Constitution as well as malpractices and overcoming in the course of the election.
“The respondents to this petition are INEC, Nadir Idris, Umar Abubakar, and APC. By the time the petition is exhausted at the Tribunal victory shall come to PDP because the court is an unbiased umpire,” Bello said.
No date has been fixed for the commencement of the trial of the suit.
