#Nigeriadecides: ASHENEWS reports that operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) were on Saturday attacked by suspected hoodlums in Abuja and Imo State.
It was gathered that in Imo, the operatives, who were on election monitoring were attacked by thugs near the Chief’s palace in Bwari Area council of the Federal Capital Territory shortly after they nabbed a suspect for alleged vote buying in the area.
A statement issued by the EFCC on Saturday evening said that the thugs attacked while the operatives were trying to move the suspect from the venue where he was arrested.
As a result, the hoodlums smashed the windshield of the Commission’s patrol van, the statement said.
In Imo State, the statement said that a team of EFCC operatives on election monitoring duty at Unit 001, Mann Primary School behind Chorobim junction was shot at by unknown persons.
The attackers said to be driving in two black Prado SUVs and one white Hilux outside the polling unit were also suspected to be vote buyers.
The statement added that the case has been reported at the Imo State Police Command.
