The National Agency for Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has sealed a bakery over repackaging of other products and operating in a poor sanitary environment in Sokoto.
The NAFDAC Coordinator in Sokoto State, Mr Garba Adamu, on Tuesday that the unregistered
the bakery was shut with assistance from security men.
Adamu said that the owner of the bakery had been arrested and sanctioned accordingly, adding that the materials used were also confiscated.

He explained that the owner had also been educated and guided on how to register his products according to stipulated guidelines, to ensure sanitary conditions.
According to him, NAFDAC engages producers in business-friendly and customer-focused activities to align with the Federal Government’s policy of encouraging entrepreneurship in Nigerian communities.
The NAFDAC coordinator added that the focus was to substantially subsidize registration requirements for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) producing specific low-risk products.
He said the agency embarked on the process while ensuring the quality of the products through a well-entrenched regulatory framework that had quality management system certification.
He reiterated the agency’s commitment to safeguarding public health and urged people to support its activities.
