The Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital in Barnawa, Kaduna, has entered into a partnership with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) to advocate for mental health awareness in the state.
The Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Aishatu Yusha’u-Armiya’u, announced the collaboration during a courtesy visit by Malam Bashir Rabe-Mani, the Kaduna Zonal Manager of NAN, on Friday.
Yusha’u-Armiya’u highlighted the hospital’s significant achievements and expressed a desire for it to meet global standards.
“We are delighted to welcome you to our hospital, and I assure you that your visit will be worthwhile,” she said.
Reflecting on past challenges, she noted, “About a year and a half ago, our public relations unit was not operating optimally, with just one staff member reporting directly to the Medical Director’s Office.”
“However, through concerted efforts with my team, we have expanded the unit by hiring eight more staff, procured necessary equipment, and established a studio and museum.”
“The studio is for advocacy and would continue to focus on training, research and the provision of quality services,” she added.
Speaking earlier, Rabe-Mani commended the medical director on her tangible achievements and enjoined her to maintain a positive tempo.
He said the agency was concerned about the menace of drug abuse which has been affecting the country.
The zonal manager assured her of the agency’s willingness to partner the hospital in promoting mental health issues and other activities.
Rabe-Mani said, “NAN is the leading content provider in the country and we will ensure the proper coverage of the hospital’s activities.
“When you speak to NAN, you speak to all. We have different varieties of services, hundreds of clients, bureaus across Nigeria and other parts of the world.”
Rabe-Mani added that the relationship between the agency and the hospital would continue to wax stronger and sustainably too.
