As Christians join their brothers to celebrate Easter across the world, the Sokoto Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed 540 personnel to guide motorists against auto crashes.
A statement by the spokesperson of the command, SRC Salisu Mohammed Tureta on Friday, said the personnel is made up of 390 Regular and 150 Special Marshals.
According to the statement, the Sector Commander, Mohammed Kaigama Kabo appealed “to the motoring public to desist from over-speeding, dangerous driving, route violation and night travels during the 2022 Easter celebration.”
While stating that the command has set up the Easter special patrol operation squad in Sokoto, the Sector Commander urged motorists to imbibe the theme of the 2022 special patrol operation tagged ‘’Zero Road Traffic Crashes’’ to achieve the goal.
The Command promised to ensure free flow of traffic and also trend down road traffic fatalities by 15% in the State.
“The special patrol operation will further pay attention to excessive speeding, dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking, overload violation, seatbelt violation, underage driving, use of phone while driving, route violation, lane indiscipline, tyre violation and other road traffic violations.”
The Command advised motoring public to be extra careful and plan their journeys properly by ensuring routine services.
Kabo called on the general public to cooperate with the personnel in other to achieve the noble objective.
