It was Friday evening in Port Harcourt, capital of Rivers state when Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto alighted from the aircraft.
The event was commissioning of projects provided as dividend of democracy by Rivers state counterpart, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike.
He commended Wike for the giant strides recorded as Rivers governor. He also commended other governors of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for their efforts to sustain democracy and good governance in the country.
Tambuwal on his arrival in Port Harcourt, went straight to commission some roads- (Forces Avenue-Olumeni-Harley Streets) at Old GRA of the Rivers State capital, reconstructed by Gov. Wike, expressed satisfaction with the superlative achievements of his counterpart who invited him to unveil the completed project.
Governor Tambuwal, who is also the Chairman of the PDP-Governors Forum (PDP-GF) said: “Governors of PDP in Nigeria are doing well in their respective states.
“We all know that we are all doing our best to live on our promises and to provide good governance. We must continue to do that not only to justify the confidence of the people, but also as a mark of gratitude to God Almighty,” he emphasized.
He further emphasized that “the only way you can thank God if He gives you a position is to uphold the trust of the people that he entrusted you to serve.”
“We shall continue to do that,” he pledged.
On Gov. Wike, he said “I believe you have justified their confidence. You have done so exceeding well. Those following you and the development in Rivers State; and democratic development in Nigeria, know your place in this state and on the national scene, in delivering your mandate and your efforts at building bridges across Nigeria.”
“You are indeed, a special gift to the people of Rivers state and Nigeria at large,” he noted.
He conveyed the gratitude of the people of his state to Gov. Wike, who had a couple of months ago visited Sokoto to commission some projects and lay foundation for the construction of a 950-bed capacity of the Sokoto State University Teaching Hospital (SOSUTH), “yet another project of the dreams of Sokoto people.”
“Truly, respect begets respect. Sokoto state people will continue to share in the joy and happiness of the people of Rivers state for what is going in Rivers,” Gov. Tambuwal said.
