The Niger State Government has issued a 48-hour deadline to a joint task force committee to clear the persistent gridlock on the Lambata-Maje-Dikko road.
The directive came as part of a swift intervention to resolve ongoing traffic congestion, which has been a major challenge for commuters.
This newly formed task force comprises key officials, including the Commissioners for Homeland Security, Transport, and Works, along with representatives from the Nigeria Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corps, Department of State Security, Vehicle Inspection Office, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps.
The committee is tasked with removing broken-down articulated vehicles and those parked along the roadside, as well as creating alternative routes for smaller vehicles.
Additionally, Salini Construction Company has been mobilized to repair damaged portions of the road to ensure smoother traffic flow.
At the task force’s inaugural meeting, chaired by Mohammed Bello, Commissioner for Homeland Security, members discussed effective strategies to carry out their assignment and immediately commenced action to resolve the issues.
The Lambata-Maje-Dikko road has long suffered from severe gridlock, largely due to the indiscriminate parking of heavy-duty vehicles along the roadside, contributing to extensive delays.
