The Sokoto Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured interim forfeiture of eight properties from the Federal High Court.
ASHENEWS has reliably gathered from source that some of the properties belong to high profile politicians, some of who are holding elective positions in the state government.
Another reliable source from the zonal command who wants to remain anonymous told ASHENEWS the Federal High Court had granted the commission an interim forfeiture until owners of the properties come to claim their ownership.
The source further said that the properties are suspected to have been acquired by some high profile officials of Sokoto state government through questionable means.
According to him, while six of the eight properties, which have been marked for investigation came under Section 29 of the Commission’s Act, the other two were being investigated under proceeds of Criminal Act 2022.
