Activist and lawyer, Yomi Alliyu (SAN), has disclosed that the International Police Organisation, INTERPOL, aided Nigerian government to arrest Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho and his with his wife, Ropo in Benin Republic.
Alliyu, who made the disclosure in a statement Tuesday afternoon, also called on the government of Germany and Benin Republic to prevent the extradition of Igboho to Nigeria.
“I call upon you to rise up and curb the impunity of the Nigerian Government by refusing any application for extradition of our Client who already has application before the International Criminal Court duly acknowledged”.
The leader of Yoruba Self-Determination Groups, Prof. Banji Akintoye, while confirming the arrest on Tuesday, also said that he, alongside other Yoruba patriots were currently working to provide assistance to prevent Igboho’s extradition to Nigeria.
“Benin Republic is a land that respects the rules of law.”
