A combined patrol team of the Nigeria Police, say it turned down bribe of ₦250,000 from a notorious car snatcher and recovered a vehicle stolen from Abuja.
Speaking in an interview with a group of journalists on Tuesday, the Spokesperson of Zamfara State Police Command, SP Shehu Muhammad said the suspect was arrested on his way to sell the vehicle.
He explained that the suspect was apprehended by a combined team of Mobile Police and Counter Terrorism Unit Personnel at Tazame village, along Gusau-Zaria road.
According to him, the suspect who could not give account of how he got the vehicle, offered ₦250,000 to the Policemen on patrol, who turned down the bribe.
“Our men raised suspicion and subsequently arrested the suspect.
“In the course of interrogation, the suspect confessed that the vehicle was stolen at Wuse Market in Abuja by a gang member, one Abdullahi.”
The Suspect, Sirajo Ibrahim in an interview confirmed that the vehicle was stolen, said he was to deliver the vehicle to one Adamu at Magama, a border town between Niger Republic and Nigeria in Katsina state.
