BREAKING: Zamfara governor appoints new Emir of Kwatarkwashi

Zamfara state governor, Bello Muhammad has approved the appointment of new Emir of Kwatarkwashi. He is Garba Ahmad Bunu.

Bunu’s appointment followed the death of the longest serving emir in the state, Ahmad Umar (Mai-Kwatarshi), who. died on Thursday, June 10 at the age of 93, having been on the throne for 61 years.

Kwatarkwashi is in Bungudu local government area of the state.

The announcement, which is contained in a terse statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Kabiru Balarabe Sardauna on Tuesday, said the appointment takes effect from today (Tuesday).

“This is to inform the general public that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Zamfara  State, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, MON (Shatiman Sokoto), has approved the appointment of Alh. Garba Ahmad Bunu, as the new Emir of Kotorkoshi.

“The appointment takes effect from today Tuesday, 14th June 2022,” the statement reads.
