ASHENEWS reports that the Department of State Services (DSS) has denied that its operatives invaded the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and occupied the office of its governor, Godwin Emefiele on Monday.
The denial is contained in a terse statement by the spokesperson of the Service, Peter Afunanya made available to newsmen on Monday.
The Service further described the reports of Emefiele’s arrest “fake news”.
“The attention of the Department of State Services (DSS) has been drawn to the false news making the round that its operatives invaded the Central Bank of Nigeria and arrested its Governor, today 16/1/23.
“This is fake news and quite misleading” the DSS statement concluded.
Reports earlier indicated that the governor of the CBN, who resumed work after his annual leave, was arrested by the DSS.
Emefiele has been in the eye of the storm after reports emerged that the DSS had launched an investigation into his activities allegedly bordering on terrorism sponsorship.
